The Western Bulldogs, as one of the 18 clubs of the Australian Football League (AFL) and situated in the fastest growing region of Australia are offering an exciting opportunity to become the club’s Fan Development Coordinator.
A major part of the Fan Development co-ordinator’s role will be to assist in implementing the Western Bulldogs’ Fan Development Strategy that commits to grow the fan base and increase engagement with existing Western Bulldogs fans. The successful candidate will take ownership of a number of key strategic activities that help “sell” AFL and in particular the Western Bulldogs brand - planning, organising, overseeing the implementation and providing post-event analysis - to ensure the highest levels of fan engagement and satisfaction are being achieved. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and proactive individual looking to start their career in the dynamic world of AFL football.
• Under the guidance of the General Manager, Fan Development, project manage the execution of key Fan Development events and activities, including junior participation programs and match day experience programs
• Assist in the Match Day preparation process by working with the Match Day Operations co-ordinator to ensure that all pre-game preparation is complete
• Run the key elements of the match day operations at Etihad stadium, ensuring that the stadium preparation has been completed and that a high quality match day experience is delivered to attendees
• Manage the Club’s community requests and responses to fan mail and email
• Manage the preparation process for Community Festival visits including booking relevant suppliers and organising required assets and collateral
• Undertake additional strategic Fan Development projects, helping to organise, implement and gain across-department buy-in where appropriate
• Collate, organise and add to the Fan Development team’s catalogue of international sports marketing and customer marketing cases studies
• Undertake competitor and market analysis to highlight new ideas and opportunities for the Western Bulldogs in fan development and engagement
• Manage Victoria University cadet to assist in the above responsibilities
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Tertiary qualifications and work experience in marketing and/or sports management preferred
• Excellent knowledge of customer and sports marketing, latest trends, technology and best practices
• Understanding of the sports entertainment industry, the AFL and club landscapes
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to engage with a broad variety of customer types including kids
• Excellent organisational skills, time management and the ability work well under pressure on a variety of tasks
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate across all levels of the organisation, while leading and inspiring people to understand the importance of fan engagement
• Passionate, motivated and proactive person - willingness to “get stuck in”
This role is a full time position, but is required to have flexible working hours, including weekend work.
