Last week, Princess Margaret Hospital patient Junior enjoyed a very special visit to the West Coast Eagles Football Club.

Fifteen-year-old Junior suffers from spinal bifida and was admitted to PMH earlier this year. Living in the remote town of Doon Doon in WA’s north, Junior was forced to leave his family and friends to receive treatment in Perth.

To brighten Junior’s day, West Coast invited the teenager to take a tour of club facilities and enjoy an inner-sanctum experience.

Guided by past Eagle great and the club’s indigenous liaison officer, Phil Narkle, Junior took a private behind-the-scenes tour of the club, enjoyed watching a training session and met up with his favourite West Coast star, Nic Naitanui.

PMH’s Aboriginal liaison and support officer, Lynette Reich, said the visit brightened Junior’s day.

“Junior had a great afternoon, especially when he got to meet Nic,” she said. “His smile told a thousand words, he really enjoyed himself.

“Junior has been missing his family and homeland in the Kimberley, it was great that we could occupy his mind by having a days' leave from the ward.”
