Former Crows captain Simon Goodwin was yesterday announced as one of seven new AFL Life Members to be inducted at the 2011 Annual General Meeting in March.
Goodwin qualified automatically for Life Membership during the 2010 season by reaching 300 games, along with dual Geelong Cats' premiership defender Darren Milburn and Western Bulldogs' midfielder Nathan Eagleton.
He debuted for Adelaide in 1997 and retired at the end of 2010 after playing 275 league games, 26 pre-season games, two state games and three matches for Australia.
Life Membership was also awarded to current Fremantle coach and three-time Essendon premiership star Mark Harvey for a combined playing and coaching tally of 300 games, while the Commission also conferred Life Membership on recently retired Geelong Cats' president Frank Costa, long-time Geelong Board member and former Geelong and Richmond player Gareth Andrews and 1988 Brownlow Medallist Gerard Healy.
AFL Chief Executive Officer Andrew Demetriou said all seven men had served the game in outstanding fashion through their careers, and Life Membership was just reward for their efforts in building the game, either on-field as players or for their work off-field.
