Hawthorn Football Club has entered into a two year partnership with Tasmania's premier whisky makers Hellyers Road Distillery.

The Burnie based company is Australia's largest single malt distillery and its products are gaining recognition and growing popularity in Australian and international markets.

Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett said he was delighted to announce the Club's first Tasmanian partner since a five year deal was struck with the State Government in September 2006.

"The partnership with Hellyers Road Distillery is a further example of the mutual benefits that have grown from the Tasmanian Government's naming rights partnership of the Tassie Hawks," he said.

"We don't see ourselves as simply playing games of football in Launceston; instead we are seeking corporate and community partnerships with local businesses."

Hellyers will also take part in the Club's business to business program with the aim to increase their presence and promote their premium spirit range to Hawthorn members and corporates.

Hellyers Road Distillery Chief Marketing Officer Ian Locke said the Company was delighted to enter the partnership with Hawthorn Football Club as it has benefits for all members in Tasmania and interstate.

"We have a state-of-the-art distillery producing a uniquely Tasmanian single malt whisky and a fantastic interpretation centre that enables all visitors to experience why we have become the whisky capital of Australia,” Locke said.

“Partnership arrangements offer members the opportunity to purchase their own Go Hawks single malt whisky, as well as receiving a complimentary refreshment when they visit the Distillery."

Throughout Australia, Tasmania has a high profile as a supplier of premium food and beverages with many brands now household names. Hellyers Road single malt whisky is rapidly gaining acceptance as a unique product and their "one man and his dog" trademark is already a favourite.
