Over 500 children were involved in Fremantle’s first Johnny ‘the Doc’ Docker Motor Skills Gala Day at Fremantle Oval this afternoon.
Growing in popularity, this is the first time the Johnny ‘The Doc’ Motor Skills programme has been run outside of pre-primary centres and is the biggest motor skills clinic undertaken by the club to date.
“Today was a great opportunity for children to come face to face with some of their AFL heroes by attending the motor skills gala day,” said Community Development Manager, David Crute.

The specialised programme is aimed at pre-primary children aged between 4 and 6 and provides an opportunity for students to learn simple play activities which promote basic motor, communication and social skills, with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment.
The motor skills gala day was a just reward for more than 10 schools that have already undertaken the programme within their pre-primary centres and relished the opportunity for students to be further involved by attending the clinic at Fremantle Oval today.

“The children had a ball with the fun-filled activities on Fremantle Oval this afternoon and to have the session delivered by the likes of Shaun McManus, Paul Hasleby, Dean Solomon and Aaron Sandilands creates even more excitement for the children,” said Crute.
“The clinic was a huge success and the club looks forward to offering the opportunity to another group of schools next year.”
