MELBOURNE'S emerging star Tom Scully says new franchise Greater Western Sydney has not made any official approach to him, his family or management, and scoffed at suggestions he is certain to head to the new club next year.

The 19-year-old, who has been hotly linked to the Giants as their primary target, said he wanted to address the media on Friday because he wanted to give his side of the story as he had "nothing to hide".

Rumours are rife because he is yet to sign a new deal with the Demons but he said his management is having ongoing discussions with the club and that Melbourne fans should have confidence in him.

"There has been no approach. Absolutely not," Scully said.

"We definitely haven't spoken to GWS and most certainly haven't signed anything.

"The club has a stance we don't comment on contracts and I'm taking that stance as well.

"My main role is to get out there and play footy every week. I'm a contracted Melbourne player and I'm absolutely loving my time at the club."

Scully, who came to the Demons as their top selection in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft, said he was focused on staying in the red and blue for the duration of his playing days.

"I'd love to end my career and say I was a one-club player, and I anticipate that will be the case," he said.

"I wake up every morning and come to work and love what I do. I'm just really looking forward to playing footy this year as well.

"I love the club, I love all my teammates and I want to be part of the future going ahead at the Melbourne footy club."

He admitted the past few weeks had been a "learning experience" for him as talk about his future intensified.

He also said it was "surreal" to hear his name linked to potential GWS offers that would rival the pay packets of the league's best players, but that money wouldn't be a factor in his decision.

"I was talking to Cameron Schwab yesterday and I was just saying I'm a 19-year-old guy in my second year of football - I just want to get out there and play footy week to week," he said.

"Contracts are the furthest thing away from my mind and my role is just going out there to play footy from week to week and getting the best outcome for the Melbourne footy club."

He said he had not felt pressured by the Demons to recommit and had a strong desire to repay them for his career and opportunities so far.

He also said he was prepared to face persistent speculation about his future until he officially signed a contract.

"I'm focused and driven on playing footy. There's going to players from all other clubs that fall out of contract and come under this speculation and there's not much you can do about it," he said.

"I've played bad games before and I'll play them again but I'm sure it won't be because of all this stuff going on."

Scully will play his first game for the year on Saturday in a NAB Challenge match against the Brisbane Lions at Visy Park after overcoming a minor knee injury.

Tom Scully is a $328,500 midfielder in the Toyota AFL Dream Team.
