Travis Boak, Robbie Gray and Nathan Krakouer have each signed two-year deals to cover seasons 2009 and 2010.
The trio all came to the club from interstate via the Power’s bumper 2006 NAB AFL Draft that also yielded Rising Star Justin Westhoff. All three are 19 years old.
Boak and Gray won NAB AFL Rising Star nominations in their first season last year, while Krakouer made staggering early progress by playing nine of the first 11 games of the season.
Power coach Mark Williams was cautiously optimistic about the trio.
“As a club we couldn’t have even hoped for anything better than we got from Travis, Robbie, and Nathan last year, particularly given they all joined us from interstate only last season," Williams said.
“We do keep in mind that they are very much in the infancy of their careers and their development won’t always be linear but it’s fair to say we’re excited about our future with these three young players as part of it.”
The development of all three players has been fast-tracked through the club’s Allan Scott Player Development Academy, and all seemed very confident in putting pen to paper to assure their next two years at Alberton.
Travis Boak said: “It’s a really exciting time to be part of the club. To be able to be part of a successful team last year was such a buzz and so I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead.”
Robbie Gray said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time over here. Adelaide’s a great spot, and the club has been fantastic in helping me learn and develop my football. I’m also excited about the opportunity of playing in a team with such a bright future.”
Nathan Krakouer said: “It’s something I didn’t expect to happen, playing 11 games in my first year. It’s nice to wake up every morning and know you’re coming to a club where you feel welcome.”
The trio’s new contracts will be officially announced at a media conference before training this afternoon.
