Which Tunes Best Soundtrack a Downpour?

I’m not sure exactly how many songs exist that relate to rain or rainy things but here are a few I came up with:

Creedence Clearwater Revival sung to us sweet melodies wanting to know, Have You Ever Seen The Rain? It Never Rains according to Dire Straits, and Kelly Price seems to disagree as she sings that It’s Gonna Rain. The Weather Girls forecast that it is Raining Men and Gerri Halliwell tends to agree, and come Sunday with the predicted rainfall and all those AFL footballers running around the SCG they just might be right.

The Bee Gees sing that it is Monday’s Rain, Elvis thought it was Kentucky Rain and Guns and Roses melodically told us a story of November Rain. Oh and then there was that time when Millie Vanilli lip-synched to the world to Blame It On The Rain.

The Eurythmics sang about The Day It Rained Forever and that’s how Indhi has been feeling of late as Auskick training and games have been cancelled for three weeks running, and like Whitesnake he was left Crying In The Rain.

Yes, Indhi was literally left crying over Auskick being cancelled due to the recent downpours Sydney has been experiencing. Along with Trisha Yearwood, local councils informed teams to Come Back When It Ain’t Rainin’. From this information came two things, Indhi demanded to know:

(a)    Why Daddy got to play in the rain, and
(b)    Who was this person called ‘Council’ and could he speak to him?

Using the word ‘devastated’ to describe Indhi would be an understatement, however his display of despair got Brett and I to reminiscing about our Saturday mornings as kids sitting on our parents' beds listening to the local radio station waiting for the wet weather details to be read out.

Was footy or hockey on or off, and if it was the latter we remember being devastated too. In the Riverina winters, we ran the gauntlet of frostbite and hypothermia to play our chosen sport and it was well worth it!

And as the week unfolds and we explain nature’s water cycle to Indhi, the weather channel - like Bob Dylan - predicts Buckets Of Rain. And Indhi will be chanting alongside Kermit The Frog for a Rainbow Connection.

Welcome to winter everyone! Here’s cheers to at least getting some washing dried and a BIG, HUMUNGASAUR WIN against the Bombers on Sunday.
