North Melbourne has informed Leigh Brown that he will not be retained on the playing list for the 2009 season.

The versatile big man played 118 games for the Kangaroos after being traded by Fremantle prior to the 2003 season, taking his career tally to 181 games and 84 goals.

Chief of Football Donald McDonald thanked Brown for the contribution he had made to the club.

"Browny has been a very popular member of the playing group over the past six years," McDonald said.

"He was well respected by his team mates and made an effort to be actively involved in the club off the field, including by filling the role of AFLPA delegate for a number of years.

"We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Rookie Alan Obst has also been delisted.  Obst made his AFL debut in round 8 and played a total of three games for the season.

Michael Wundke and Nathan Grima have been elevated from the rookie list to the primary list and Cruize Garlett has been retained on the rookie list.

Adam Simpson and Brent Harvey will remain on the veterans list.
