Tambling played across half back and was particular good in the first half, using the ball well and playing with aggression. He finished with 25 disposals and six marks.
Martin also played in defence and his run and work rate from the backlines was important when North Adelaide challenged Sturt in the second half. He had 12 kicks and six handballs.
For the Roosters, James Craig played his first league game of the season and was strong in the ruck. He kicked two goals when moved forward and collected nine possessions and three marks in a solid all round performance.
The Eagles had a narrow six point win against South Adelaide at Noarlunga on Friday night with Brodie Smith kicking the winning goal. Smith finished with two goals from 22 possessions and four marks in a good performance.
Luke Thompson was again strong in defence for the Eagles playing on smaller forwards. He made some important spoils late in the game and also showed some run through the middle of the ground with success. Thompson collected 20 disposals and five marks.
Chris Schmidt returned from injury with great success in a solid performance for West Adelaide against Glenelg.
Playing in the midfield, Schmidt had 21 possessions, including nine clearances, and three marks. His clean take of the ball in contested situations was a highlight.
For the Bays, James Sellar had a big role in the Tigers’ win from defence. Playing at centre half back, his aerial work was good and he spread well from defence, Sellar finished with 19 disposals and nine marks.
Sam Shaw was solid in his first game back in the league squad. Playing at half back, he was solid defensively and also kicked a goal. Shaw had 13 possessions and four marks.
In Central District’s win over Port Adelaide, Ian Callinan was solid for the Bulldogs. Played predominantly as a forward, he kicked two goals from 22 possessions and took four marks.
Ricky Henderson started on a wing and moved well with speed. He was moved into defence later in the game and performed strongly, finishing with 14 disposals and three marks.
Ivan Maric was again good for Port Magpies having a real influence in the ruck. He finished the game with 12 possessions and five marks, also kicking a goal when moved forwards.
In the SANFL reserves, Jarryd Lyons had a very good game for Glenelg with 28 disposals and five marks. Lachlan Roach (North Adelaide) was good on a wing and had 23 disposals.
Jake von Bertouch had eight possessions and five marks as a forward for the Eagles while Will Young played as a guest with South Adelaide’s reserves.
