The Brisbane Lions’ brothers in the Victorian Amateur Football Association - Fitzroy FC - will once again provide Melbourne-based Lions fans with an opportunity to watch grassroots football live at the Club’s traditional home in Victoria.

The Brunswick Street Oval will host Fitzroy FC’s nine VAFA Premier C Division home matches in 2012, with the first scheduled for Saturday 28 April against Marcellin (who have ties with the Lions’ own Patrick Karnezis).

Melbourne-based fans are encouraged to head down to support Fitzroy FC during the day, before settling in front of the television to watch the Lions face Geelong at the Gabba that same night.

Fitzroy FC are also scheduled to play a home match at the Brunswick Street Oval against Rupertswood on Saturday 16 June - one day before North Melbourne hosts the Lions in Round 9 at Etihad Stadium.

This fixture allows both local and travelling Lions fans with an opportunity to witness the Club’s past and present in one big weekend of football.

There are also plenty of other instances throughout the year where Lions fans can help cheer on the amateur side.
