Power had apparently approached Green upon announcing his retirement from the Lions to suggest he continue the jumper’s proud tradition from 2012.
“Lukey offered it to me and I didn’t think twice about it,” Green said exclusively on lions.com.au.
“It’s a huge honour to wear it, I’m very excited.”
Green also said that he was pleased with the Club’s recruitment of Dayne Zorko during Trade Week as it meant that he was no longer the shortest player at the Lions.
“It’s much better now that Dayne is here,” Green said.
“I do hang around with him a lot to give me some confidence. Us midgets have to stick together.”
“Dayne and I are pretty good mates - he is training really well and has fit into the Club nicely.”
An unidentified ‘guest’ - who it was later revealed to be Zorko himself - even joined in the live chat at one stage to ask Green whether he “had any concerns over your FIFA career considering you’re behind 8-4 to Zorko?”
Among other insights, Green nominated Daniel Rich, Ryan Harwood and James Polkinghorne as some of the early standouts on the training track, said Lions fans should select Aaron Cornelius in their AFL Dream Teams next year, and nominated Hawthorn’s Shane Crawford as the player he most admired growing up.
