Adelaide responded to the loss against West Coast with a nail biting five point win against the Bombers.

Essendon's pressure and dewy conditions proved tough as Adelaide struggled to put the Bombers away, but their will to win saw them hold on.

Burton, despite missing chances, was dominant up forward, Thompson continued his good form in the midfield and Bock and Rutten were instrumental in shutting down Lucas and Lloyd.
