Fresh from an end of season trip to Bali, the 21 year-old was greeted with the news he'd be heading back overseas next week for North Melbourne's high-altitude training camp in Utah.
"It will be a good initiation, straight into it with my new team-mates," Sierakowski told kangaroos.com.au.
"I got a call from Boomer (Brent Harvey) the other day and he told me it's an enjoyable trip, but a pretty hard one.
"It's pretty good to get a call from the captain straight up. I was pretty impressed by that."
The former Hawk is yet to debut at AFL level, but is clearly rated highly by North's recruiting staff who've been tracking his progress at Box Hill.
"It's a great opportunity really. The club's improving greatly with the young group and I'm pretty sure they'll finish in the top eight next year. It's just good to be able to come to a developing club."
Skilful on both sides of the body, he played 17 games for Hawthorn's VFL affiliate in 2011.
"I think it's about time I take the next step up. I got close this year at the Hawks with a few roles as emergency, but just feel it's the right time to be able to step up," Sierakowski added.
"I'm hoping to bring a bit of run off the half-back line. That's what I've been working on for the past few years."
But Sierakowski is aware there's still some deficiencies he'll need to work on to earn a debut in the royal blue and white.
"Physical strength is a big part I need to work on and I need to continue to improve my body-work to be able to compete with the bigger bodies."
The club's latest addition will depart for Utah with the rest of the North Melbourne squad early next week.
