CTV > Paul Hudson's first CTV appearance at his new club

Collingwood’s new assistant coach, Paul Hudson, will focus on the Magpies forward line and offensive group in his role at the club for the 2009 season.

Hudson spoke with collingwoodfc.com.au before his first meeting with his new colleagues.

“Obviously it’s a young list,” Hudson said referring to Collingwood’s forward line.

“From being an outsider looking in, the exciting part I saw was Dawes and a few of these young guys (and Anthony) that stood up when the club needed to.

“It’s looking pretty promising when you throw in Cloke, Rocca and Rusling.  Its making them gel and work together (that) is going to be the challenge.”

Hudson coached under Brisbane Lion’s coach Leigh Matthews for the last two years before moving back to Melbourne to work with Collingwood.

“To be honest there was an in balance in the forward line there because, as much as they give you goal-wise, it’s the other end that they struggled at, the forward-line pressure.

Hudson spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons coaching the Gippsland Power and oversaw the development of Dale Thomas, Scott Pendlebury, Tyson Goldsack and Brent Macaffer.

“Daisy is obviously an exciting player.

“Dippa (Pendlebury) is a natural talent and he has done well in the last two years especially in the best and fairest.

“I never thought I would be at the black and white...but there are a lot of people here I know and I am really excited to be at such a good club.”
