Ticket number 0304 was drawn out of the barrel on November 11 and it belonged to a man who had just backed the winning horse in the Melbourne Cup.
Ray Garrow of Belmont was on to collect his $600 winnings when he received the call from the Geelong Cats, advising him he had won the $300 raffle.
“I have won $300, have I?” Ray asked the infield sales representative.
“No, you have won over $70,000 worth of prizes, your ticket was $300,” the sales rep said.
Garrow won over $70,000 worth of prizes which included a Ford SY Territory TX RWD, an Ally Craft Kakadu boat and a $4,000 Allabout Tours & Travel voucher.
There were 572 of tickets in the draw.
The Geelong Cats’ $50 raffle and first $300 raffle for 2009 will be on sale at the end of January.
In 2009, there will be early bird prize draws for both raffles. The early bird prizes are two tickets to the Geelong Cats 150th Dinner and a framed 2009 team signed guernsey.
