The Hawthorn Football Club has appointed John Wardrop as its full-time Opposition Analyst.

Wardrop is widely regarded as the most experienced Opposition Analyst in the AFL and brings a wealth of experience to the Hawks’ Player Personnel and Strategy Department. He joins from Collingwood Football Club where he had worked in a similar role since 2000, and prior to that at West Coast Eagles (1994-1999).

Hawks’ General Manager of Player Personnel and Strategy, Chris Pelchen, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday and was delighted the Club had been able to secure the services of Wardrop.

“John was the first-ever ‘full-time’ and is the most experienced Opposition Analyst in the Australian Football League,” said Pelchen.

“We are delighted to have him on board and he will work closely with Alastair Clarkson and the Match Committee in the analysis of opposition clubs while also playing an active role with the Player Personnel and Strategy Department in the areas of list management, player trading and recruiting.”
