IT WAS a very impressive win on Saturday night - our second on the road for the year.
We got them in the last quarter; they got a couple of injuries during the game, which helped us, but we seemed to move the ball fairly efficiently down the ground. The only area we lost in was the stoppages.
What is the secret to interstate travel? You go and you play your normal game, and you play to win. You probably try and forget that you've travelled.
We mainly just try and keep things the way they are at home.
Getting a win on the road is probably good for morale and for team bonding. It's always good to have a win interstate – you don't celebrate as hard as we used to 10 years ago, but I think it's always good to have a win, no matter where you are.
I don't think the players really enjoy travelling, as they would much rather play at the MCG, but winning interstate against good teams, like Brisbane, who have been successful, not in the last couple of years but before that, is great.
They've been Collingwood's bogey side, and the Crows as well, who have been a benchmark in the competition, along with Sydney and West Coast.
We have a six-day break now, same as last week, and we won last week so hopefully we can do it again.
We came back from Brisbane on Sunday, and we stayed for the extra night and did recovery up there. You need to get a good night's sleep after a game, and if you fly home in the middle of the night … this way, you get a good sleep and it helps you prepare for the next game.
We're just watching a bit of the Dockers now, on video. Guy McKenna, our opposition coach, has seen them quite a bit over the last few weeks.
They've won a few games without setting the world on fire but they have some great talent within the team, and we're going to have to play really well to beat them
If it's raining and about five degrees on Friday night, I won't personally like it, but it might help our team a bit.
We have a lot of the young guys down at Williamstown playing really well at the moment. I think we've already blooded the second-most number of players in the seniors, and there are a few more guys knocking on the door now.
I'm guessing the fans might see a few more in the next couple of weeks.
Chris Egan won't be available for quite a while with his knee injury, so we'll see what happens there.
We'll discuss today and tomorrow what will happen with elevating a rookie to replace him, and we've got plenty of time to make our minds up.
It will be a great opportunity for whoever gets elevated. To have the chance to play AFL football is always a big thrill, and I guess when you're a rookie, you're not far away, but when you get elevated, you're a big chance.
Danny Nicholls played a game at the start of the year, and Alan Toovey was elevated last year … Harry O'Brien was another rookie, so Collingwood has been fairly lucky in the last few years with rookies.
I don't want to put a name out there yet. Rookies have been great for us, and a lot of other clubs as well like Essendon and West Coast. It's a real advantage if rookies can come to a club, get better, and then get a chance.
"Bucks" did a little bit of training on Tuesday, and hopefully, if he doesn't get injured in the next couple of weeks, he'll be back. He's not quite doing full training yet, but he's building up.
I'm not sure if he'll play before the break, I'm not really sure when it will be, but hopefully it will be soon.
He's pretty quiet about it all, as he gets asked questions all the time. He's getting there.
