Collingwood will contest Alan Didak’s one-match suspension for charging.

The club was initially shocked the incident was deemed worthy of suspension, and will proceed with attempting to have Didak cleared to play against Melbourne next Monday.

The tribunal hearing will take place on Tuesday evening.

Didak was cited for charging Fremantle’s Paul Hasleby during the fourth quarter of last Friday night’s round ten encounter.

Due to carry-over points from his previous record, Didak was offered a one-match sanction with an early plea. If he is unsuccessful at the tribunal, his penalty will remain at one match.

In summary, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point).

This a total of three activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has a total of two matches suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 20 per cent to 150 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

The 2006 Copeland Trophy winner has played five matches since returning to the side in round five after undergoing knee surgery at the end of last season.
He has booted 12 goals in that time, including a season-high of four in the victory over Carlton in round seven.

Another Magpie, Brodie Holland, was fined $3300 for making negligent contact with umpire. It’s Holland’s second umpire contact offence, and he will accept the early plea.
