AFL Premier Essendon has suffered a shock loss to the Sydney Swans in a 15-a-side trial match at the North Sydney Oval.

The Swans trailed at half time but kicked six goals after the major break to run over the top of the Dons winning 13.9 {87} to 11.13 {79}.

Exciting youngster Adam Goodes starred for the Swans with three goals, while Essendon’s glamour full-forward Matthew Lloyd snagged four despite only playing the first half.

Heavy rain didn’t dampen the crowd’s spirits with over 12,400 fans turning out for the game.
