With the pre-season competition completed, and season 2008 not far away, attentions must turn to registering for Footy Tipping, and applying the finishing touches to your Dream Team.

When selecting your Dreamteam, fantasy-friendly players such as Luke Hodge, Chad Cornes, Daniel Kerr and Joel Bowden will inevitably feature. The real skill lies in picking up bargains for your bench and avoiding potential busts.

Last season, great value was found in the emergence of players such as Matt Priddis, Jake King, and Joel Selwood. In contrast some players are simply disappointing when their fantasy production is calculated - Just ask 2007 owners of Adam Yze, Justin Sherman and Marc Murphy.

Keep an eye on youngsters such as Cyril Rioli, David Armitage and Kurt Tippett who have all shown significant promise in the pre-season.

Players returning from injury or with new opportunities should also feature on your radar. Like David Rodan in 2007, any one of Mark Coughlan, Nick Stevens, Travis Johnstone, Kyle Reimers, Stuart Dew could have a huge fantasy impact this year.
