Earlier in the year the club reached a historic agreement with the Yarra City Council for the Magpies to return to Victoria Park after a 10-year absence.
The VFL side will play a total of nine home matches at Victoria Park in 2010 including the final round of the season which features a showdown against the new Gold Coast side coached by former Magpie assistant coach Guy McKenna featuring former Magpies Sam Iles and Danny Stanley.
It will be the second match-up against the future AFL side with both Collingwood sides traveling over to Queensland together for games on 29 May which will prove a feast for Magpie fans based in Queensland. The VFL side will take on Gold Coast at Southport (round 7) earlier in the day while the AFL side is scheduled to battle Brisbane (Gabba) in round 10 at night.
Other notable matches for the VFL side include a clash against the reigning premiers North Ballarat in round 11. The VFL Magpies will be looking for redemption after the Rebels beat them by 61-points in the 2009 preliminary final.
Another exciting clash features for the first time the VFL Magpies playing under the lights when they visit Werribee at Chirnside Park in round 4.
Victorian based Magpie fans will have the opportunity to enjoy four-double headers in 2010 with the VFL side playing on the same day as the AFL team but earlier in the day on dates including 8 May, 3 July, 7 August and 21 August.
The VFL squad is currently in preseason training and will be culled to a list of 21(11 primary and 10 rookie) in February next year.
