Brown dismissed speculation he was suffering from the dreaded osteitis pubis and said he was ready to take on the Crows at AAMI Stadium on Sunday after turning a corner during the week.
Brown and Fevola flew to Adelaide earlier this week to receive treatment from "injured groin" specialist Dr Steve Saunders, however Brown said his problems related to a different matter.
"The first game of the year I hurt my abs. I had a tear or a strain of my abs and was able to sort of carry that for a bit, but I stirred it up against the Western Bulldogs about a month ago and they’ve been sore since," he said.
"But I’m tracking upwards now. There’s no OP (osteitis pubis), just to clear it up. Obviously it’s been affecting me a little bit but I’m starting to track upwards now."
From Adelaide, Brown told The Footy Show that he was looking forward to returning to full fitness.
"On the weekend [against Geelong], I started heading in the right direction and [I’m] feeling pretty good," he said.
"I’m feeling pretty good actually … I’ll definitely be playing on Sunday."
Fevola has looked to be struggling recently, and while he has booted 25 goals in eight matches he could only manage one against the Cats - albeit against Matthew Scarlett.
Brown acknowledged the star recruit was laboring but hoped he was right for what looms as a must-win match for Brisbane, after losing its past four games.
"He’s had a few groin issues and he’s getting the treatment as well," Brown said.
"I’d expect him to be out there on Sunday.
"He copped a fair bit of flak on the weekend but, as we’ve seen with all players that can have some groin problems, it can knock a fair bit of power and speed out of guys. That’s Fev’s game. It’s certainly noticeable when he loses it."
The Lions have included developing forward Aaron Cornelius in their extended squad for Sunday’s clash for the Crows.
The Tasmanian may be called up should Fevola fail to overcome his nagging complaint in time for the game.
