As most of us settle down in our warm beds tonight, spare a thought for around 105,000 homeless people that currently struggle to live in Australia. Tonight, North chief executive Eugene Arocca will join them out in the cold to help promote awareness of the plight of the homeless.

Arocca has agreed to participate in the St Vincent’s CEO Sleepout tonight and will brave the elements with another 680 CEO’s around Australia.

The initiative has already raised over $2 million in donations from people sponsoring individuals.

In Arocca’s case, he is in Melbourne’s top 10 for funds raised so far.

“I’m actually looking forward to the experience and know that it will be a huge challenge,” Arocca told kangaroos.com.au.

“The difference is, I had the choice whether to do this or not. Unfortunately there is no option for over a hundred thousand Australians who must sleep out in the cold every night with no roof over their heads.”

Tonight’s Sleepout will take place at Etihad Stadium.

“I hope that joining other CEO’s for this fantastic initiative will not only raise valuable funds but also increase awareness. Football clubs are as much a part of the community as any other organization, so we feel a shared sense of responsibility in tackling this important issue.”

If you would like to support this cause and Eugene Arocca it is not too late to donate. Visit www.ceosleepout.org.au to register your support.
