Dear Members,

A wise man said to me recently after a not-so-spectacular match that we won, "take the points and run". It seems that can equally apply after yesterday’s game.

Yes, it is wonderful when - so far behind at the start of the last quarter - we can find the mojo to fight back and go on to a comfortable win.

But three lackluster quarters, particularly the second (where we consistently kicked short and sideways) will not deliver us the result we seek at year’s end.

Still, we are third on the ladder, and our coach is building an arsenal of young players needed to see the year out.

We are winning, and just need to repeat yesterday’s final quarter over four quarters of one game and we will be a side to compete.

Well done to our recent newcomers Bailey and Breust, well done to Cheney and Lisle on their first games, and thank you to Cyril Rioli for holding the team together when it mattered.

Next week we assemble to take on Geelong in what will be a great opportunity for all.

For those members who have not yet renewed last year’s membership, I invite you to do so this week.

Bragging rights only belong to those who have fully committed to the mighty Hawks.

For now, have a good week, and bring your brown and gold voices to the ‘G on Saturday.

Stay well and Go Hawks!
