The Minister for Education Bronwyn Pike will be joined by Sports Without Borders (SWB) Chair James Demetriou and Melbourne City Councillor Jennifer Kanis to launch the Youth Action pilot at North Melbourne Football Club.

Youth Action is an organised technology driven physical sports activity process for children including refugee and newly arrived Australian youth aged 5- 14 years who undertake fun games and simple athletic movements.

SWB see its Youth Action program as key to physical sports participation with community and sporting groups that enables social inclusion.

The day program will draw youth from the local North and West of Melbourne. It will focus on improving personal development and social skills, physical health, self- esteem and promoting multiculturalism and social cohesion.

The North Melbourne football club facility; The Learning and Life Centre, has facilitated participation in the event by community youth groups including the Kensington Flemington Junior Sports Club, YMCA Victoria Community Programming , Doutta Galla Youth Limited, The Centre based in Errol Street as well as the North Melbourne Rotary Club, and Victoria Market.
