Raising Awareness of World Health Day

This month we are helping to raise awareness of World Health Day, which takes place on 7 April. The focus this year is on the growing problem of ‘antimicrobial resistance’.

Inappropriately using medications like antibiotics can make germs stronger over time. This means that when we get sick with an infection, medications may be less effective and it can be more difficult for doctors to treat us.

So it’s very important to always take medication as directed by the doctor. But we can also reduce the risk of getting sick in the first place - and as a first step you can’t go past the basics of good nutrition and regular exercise.

In this newsletter we fill parents in on why they should Always Wash For Safe Fruit & Veg. Kids will learn how Yummy Yoghurt can help their bodies and how to Fight Off Germs With Exercise.

For teachers, a Life Expectancy Shock is a timely reminder that by promoting these healthy messages to our children now, we are ensuring they grow up and develop with healthy habits to last a lifetime.
