"The spirit and attitude with which our boys played and won on the weekend allows all of us in the stands to hold our heads high and proudly proclaim... I AM A KANGAROO!"
- a member’s letter to the Chairman, 2004.

What is Jump Start?

Our club is 145 years old and as the next generation of Kangaroos we in JUMP START share many of the same principles.
Our desire to succeed in our own field of endeavour, a dedication to the continued success of the Kangaroos and a spirit of involvement and camaraderie.

The Jump Start mission is fourfold:
1. To assist the Kangaroos in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for the benefit of the club.
2. To provide a forum and environment to mix with other career-minded people, developing both ourselves and each other and our professional lives.
3. To foster the spirit of togetherness, enjoyment and mateship synonymous with the Kangaroos.
4. To increase our sense of belonging with the greatest football club in the country.

ASSIST
The Kangaroos is about mateship and putting your head down and your bum up and doing whatever it takes to get the job done. We support this by:
• Volunteer action groups to assist with the implementation of the strategic initiatives developed by the Board, the management and the club sub-committees.

DEVELOP
As young people and potential off-field leaders of our club we develop our own abilities, contacts and experiences through:
• Monthly Jump Start forum breakfasts to increase our exposure to good business.
• ‘Have you got a minute mate’ program where members are free to seek guidance, opinion and feedback relating to their career from other Jump Start members.
• Active referral and usage of the services of other Jump Start members, those in the Club’s coteries and Sponsor companies.

ENJOY
We love our footy and we love our team. The enjoyment you get from being a Kangaroo does not have to stop on the final siren. Jump Start holds regular breakfast events throughout the year, to further our enjoyment and develop friendships, sharing the issues that make Melbourne our home.

BELONG
Jump Start is about a sense of belonging for all – our members and the young players who go into battle on our behalf. We foster this through:
• Regular email and face-to-face communication with insiders at the Kangaroos
• A mentoring program to broaden the network of people & experiences available to our young players

We are a user pays Kangaroos supporter group and ask for no financial commitment beyond that you already make to the club trhough your membership.

We welcome your involvement, feedback and ideas at all times.
