Speaking before training on Saturday, O'Donnell said Fremantle had been training quite well in the hot weather and expected his team to cope with the conditions.
"We think that we'll be able to use the heat to our advantage," he said.
"We've trained in it and we are used to it."
"You have to watch the fluid intake, but eight on the bench will obviously help."
O'Donnell said the Dockers would require a full-team contribution to get over the Pies, and hoped for a repeat performance of last week when Fremantle outclassed the Eagles by 62 points.
"It's not a matter of grinding them down, it's a matter of trying to play with intensity for four quarters and everyone sharing the load," he said.
"We need to keep the momentum and the good start we got off to (going). An area that we want to really focus on is our consistency and stringing performances together."
Des Headland has been ruled out of the match with a foot injury, but Matthew Pavlich makes his highly-anticipated return after recovering from knee and shoulder surgery at the end of last season.
"He's very keen, he's done everything right so he's ready to go," O'Donnell said of Pavlich.
"We are looking forward to having another quality player back in the mix."
