AFL Champion Michael Long will travel to Port Hedland on Sunday June 8 as part of the Australian Football’s 150 Years experience.

Long will be accompanied by music sensations the Black Sorrows in the Australian Football Experience’s first major Western Australian stop.

Travelling as part of the NAB 150 Tour, the Australian Football Experience provides an opportunity for families and children to learn about the history of Australian Football while enjoying a series of interactive activities.

Long said he couldn’t wait to visit Port Hedland and help to spread the Australian Football 150 Year Celebrations.

“Australian Football has always been a chance for families to come together, get active and have some fun and that’s exactly what will happen when the Australian Football Experience comes to town,” Long said.

The Australian Football Experience is travelling around Australia between February and October as part of Australian Football’s 150 Year Celebrations.

As part of the Australian Football Experience, families have the opportunity to visit the Big Footy, a nine-metre purpose-built dome which holds up to 80 people and contains a visual history of 150 years of Australian Football.  Fans also can watch DVD highlights of the game’s history and view replicas of the 2008 NAB Cup and the 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup.

The Australian Football Experience will also provide interactive activities for children, including:

    • Autographs and photos with Michael Long between 1pm - 3pm
    • Taking part in the Big Kick, a goal-kicking competition for children where daily winners will receive an Australian Football Experience giftpack. All children participating will have the chance to win tickets to the 2008 AFL Grand Final for a family of four.
    • Handball Target, an opportunity to demonstrate your skills with an Australian football.
    • The opportunity to register your interest in NAB AFL Auskick or PlayAFL.

The Australian Game of Football which is the official book created for the 150th Anniversary of Australian Football will also be on display inside the Big Footy dome.  Purchase a copy of the book from all good bookstores, AFL Stores or at Angus and Robertson for $89.95 and bring it along on Saturday to have it signed by the ambassador.
