Adelaide has promoted teenager Phil Davis to make his AFL debut against Carlton on Saturday at AAMI Stadium.

The 19-year-old 195cm key position player - claimed from North Adelaide with Adelaide’s first pick in the 2008 national draft - has been named in defence to help cover the loss of Nathan Bock (hamstring).

Experienced Graham Johncock also returns to the back pocket after missing the opening three games with a broken thumb.

The Crows lost Trent Hentschel (knee) but Kurt Tippett and Patrick Dangerfield (neck) had fitness tests on Thursday and have been named. Scott Stevens (concussion) and Nathan van Berlo (back/hamstring) were ruled out earlier this week.

Upgraded rookie Matthew Jaensch, from Sturt, has been listed as one of the three emergencies, with Shaun McKernan and Jonathon Griffin. The 19-year-old can play at half-back or half-forward.

Adelaide trains on Friday morning from about 10am at AAMI Stadium.
