Draft summary
"You're always happy with the draft. They are highly credentialed kids and we'll just see how they go know."

"If a kid is West Australian it does make a difference, no doubt. We don't want them to leave the state on us. Going forward with the new rules that are coming in and possible free agency, we are going to lean towards the local kids if we can."

Selection No.7: Bradley Sheppard

DOB: 23/05/91, Height: 186cm, Weight: 81kg
Recruited from: East Fremantle (WA)
"About six weeks ago we settled on him. It's always really hard when you've got three pretty good West Australians in Kane Lucas, Lewis Jetta and Brad. There were several other good young players there too. That's the way we saw it.

"He played a year of senior footy and played two years of state under-18s. He's only just starting to concentrate on his footy because he's a very good cricketer.

He's got a pretty good upside. He performs well under pressure at all levels he has played. That is certainly a positive."

Selection No.22: Gerrick Weedon
DOB: 25/05/91, Height: 183cm, Weight: 79kg
Recruited from: Claremont (WA)
"He's very strongly built. A lot of the indigenous kids at that age tend to be a bit finer but he is a strong player.

He might not be quite as quick as the Daveys and those players but he is very clever, a hard tackler, good around the clearances.

He is a kid from Broome who has only been down for a year and a bit. We'd like to think he has some improvement to come."

Selection No.23: Koby Stevens

DOB: 18/06/91, Height: 187cm, Weight: 83kg
Recruited from: Gippsland Power (VIC)
"We were surprised Koby slipped through that far. He has played at state level for two years and is an AIS player.

Credential-wise, he's done everything he can as a young man. We were pretty happy he slipped through."
