Peter Worsfold, younger brother of West Coast Eagles coach John Worsfold, has been appointed as development coach at the club.

Peter was an accomplished player in his own right, playing 31 games with Brisbane and 156 with South Fremantle, where he was premiership captain in 1997.

After winding up his senior career with South Fremantle, Peter joined Donnybrook as a successful player and coach and was an integral player in that club's 2000 premiership, winning the coveted Hayward Medal for the best player in the competition and the Pike Medal for best on ground in the grand final. He coached Donnybrook in 2002 and 2003.

"I am really looking forward to becoming involved in football again," Peter said on Friday.

He said he was excited to be working at a club with such a young player list.

He will begin his new role on January 15, 2007.
