After signing hundreds of footballs and guernseys, countless posters and the odd random item, Adelaide’s playing squad could be forgiven for complaining of writer’s cramp.

Twice a year the entire playing group are given the unenviable task of the “mega signing session” where a majority of the club’s promotional, competition and charity items are signed by all of the players and coach Neil Craig.

The Westpac Centre shed floor was turned into a sea of red, blue and gold as nearly 50 tables were littered with home guernseys, mini footballs and team posters all awaiting signatures.

Andrew McLeod and rookie Aidan Riley cut lonely figures on Tuesday afternoon as they slowly worked their way around each table shortly before their weekly weights session.

“I’ve been here for about 45 minutes and I’m nearly finished,” said a relieved McLeod, who traditionally signs a lot more than most.

Captain Simon Goodwin also has one of the busier day’s not only signing all merchandise but also two long tables worth of “Neil Craig and Simon Goodwin only” footballs and guernseys.
