The Port Adelaide coach says his side will still try and play attacking football and kick a big score in this Sunday's qualifying final despite Geelong's low-scoring, tight style of play.
"I'm sure that Geelong will try to shut us down, there's no doubt about that", Williams said.
"We like to play exciting footy, we like to be a team that kicks 100 points every week, but Geelong has showed they want to play a lot of stop-start footy. That's OK; we've handled that.
"We look forward to that this week. We assume it'll be that way but once again we'll try and kick a score."
Williams responded strongly to comments from Cats coach Mark Thompson questioning whether Port's style of play will work during September, saying his side had changed its ways.
"We're very much different, I think when you look at our contested possessions compared to our opposition you'll note that we do very, very well there and that's exactly how we want to play so if they want to play that way then we look forward to it.
"We've been looking forward to and probably planning this occasion for a long, long time so there's nothing that we're just going to think of now, and do it, it's already been in place", said Williams.
"It's been a year long journey to get back to this stage and having met with the leaders of the side yesterday, there's a real confidence in the group."
