With two remaining matches in the home and away season, Collingwood elected to change the scenery and headed down the coast for an overnight camp in Sorrento held on Sunday and Monday.??

The Magpie contingent was made up of the playing list, coaching staff and club officials led by player development manager Paul Licuria.??

“With an eight-day break between matches, we saw this as a good opportunity to get away from Melbourne and train in a different location, to keep the players mentally and physically fresh,” Licuria told collingwoodfc.com.au on Monday.??

While the setting changed from Melbourne’s skyline to the Mornington Peninsula coast, the players were not on a holiday with several recovery and training sessions held on both days.??

“Aside from the team meetings, we also utilised the location, holding a training session on the Sorrento footy ground,” added Licuria.

“The Westpac Centre is a great facility, but it’s a long, gruelling season and the players always respond well to having variety in their training program.”??

A win on Saturday night against Adelaide would see Collingwood extends its winning streak to nine games, a feat last accomplished in the 1990 season.

“The entire playing list is extremely committed and unified, with the major focus being on the Adelaide game this weekend.”??
