Last Friday night the Bulldogs took on a gallant Melbourne side in less than desirable conditions at the ‘G’. As the skies opened up both sides struggled to keep their feet and control the ball in the wet.

After what was a nail biting encounter the Red, White and Blue managed to regain the lead in the final moments thanks to some slick skills from Griffen and Lake who impressed after being moved up forward in the final term.

The win now brings our tally to four wins, three loses and we hope that the important victory over the Dees will see the team’s confidence grow and be the real beginning of our 2010 season.

In other exciting Club news this week Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney confirmed his undying commitment to the Club by re-signing for a further three years. In the press conference he confessed his relief at having the deal settled and out of the way, stating "It's just one less thing you have to worry about. There's a security there [in knowing] you're going to be around the footy club for another few years and you can just concentrate on playing the best football you can.”

This week the team head to Canberra to take on the strong Sydney Swans at Manuka Oval.

This will be the first time Barry Hall comes up against his old team and he had to admit this week that he will probably be a little nervous before he takes to the field on Saturday afternoon. This week he said that although his concentration hasn’t been on this game, “it's always in the back of your mind you're going to play against your old club at some stage. I'm handling it ok. Saturday I'll probably be a bit more nervous about it."

The last time these sides meet was also at Manuka in Round 10 last year. The Dogs dominated from the outset and managed to keep the Swans goalless through the second quarter eventually winning by a final margin of 40 points. Let’s hope that on Saturday we see a similar game and the same outcome for the Dogs.
