ONE OF the best players in the most recent grand final replay, Arnold Briedis, will present the Norm Smith Medal on Saturday.

Briedis kicked five goals in the replay of the 1977 decider, as Ron Barassi's all-conquering North Melbourne side defeated Collingwood to win its second premiership in three seasons.

Briedis' effort in the replay came after he had booted seven behinds in the drawn match.

He will join David Parkin (presenter of the Jock McHale Medal to the premiership coach) as part of the official presentation party.

The judges for the Norm Smith Medal for best player in the grand final replay are Tom Harley (chairman, Channel 7), Martin Blake (The Age), Stan Alves (ABC Grandstand), Dermott Brereton (SEN 1116) and Danny Frawley (Triple M).

The Norm Smith Medal cannot be shared between two players.

In the event of a tie, a countback will be based on:
- Number of three votes received
- Number of two votes received, and
- If still unbroken, votes cast by the chairman will break the tie

Lenny Hayes was presented with last week's Norm Smith Medal by the 1992 winner, former Eagle Peter Matera.
