Collingwood defender Chris Tarrant is ‘stoked’ to be back in the Magpie winning circle after a four-year hiatus from the club.

Tarrant, who returned to the Magpies at the end of last year after he was traded from Fremantle, told CTV after the match that he was looking forward to the round one match since he arrived via a trade at the end of the 2010 season.

“I am so happy to be back and I was looking forward to this day since I was traded,” Tarrant said.

“I love this footy club and its great to be back playing.”

While the Magpies found success in five matches during the NAB Cup, the playing group did not think a preseason win warranted the traditional song.  So with teammates Chris Dawes on his left and Steele Sidebottom on his right the defender felt thrilled to be back at home.

“I was looking forward to singing the song.

“To be back with the boys was great.”

The coaching staff played Tarrant for 97.4% of the game, only interchanging him once, the highest time on ground for the Magpies.

“I think I did OK and I am still adjusting to the new game plan.  I really enjoyed it and that was the main thing.”

“I am stoked to be back and it’s just round one.  There are many more games to go.”
