Precautionary MRI scans have cleared Kurt Tippett of any structural damage to his left knee.

The first-year forward has some bone bruising but will train this morning and Thursday and then be available to play in Sunday’s Balfours Showdown at AAMI Stadium.

Tippett admits he was concerned when he hurt the knee in a marking contest in the third quarter of Saturday’s clash with West Coast, his second game in the AFL.

“Yeah, I was a bit worried at the time, you think the worst,” he said. “But once the doctors had a look they were pretty confident it wasn’t anything major, so that was a big relief.”

But 18-year-old Crows draftee Aaron Kite faces at least a month on the sidelines. He will have an arthroscopy tomorrow to repair damaged knee cartilage.

Kite hurt his left knee in the warm-up before his SANFL league debut for Norwood last Friday night.
