THE seasons of West Coast's Brent Staker and Josh Kennedy are over with both forwards to go under the knife.
The duo have joined the crowded casualty ward at the Eagles, with Staker needing an operation on his right thumb and Kennedy to undergo a shoulder reconstruction.
Staker suffered his injury in the first quarter of the Western Derby loss to Fremantle, while Kennedy has been kept from playing in recent weeks by a knee complaint, but it's an ongoing shoulder injury from round seven clash with Carlton which needs attention.
Kennedy, 20, will go under the knife on Thursday. A club statement said he tried to resume full training this week, but the PCL injury had not recovered.
The opinion of the club's medical staff was that he would need a further three to four week lay-off, effectively ending his season.
Staker, 24, ruptured a ligament in his right thumb and also received a small avulsion fracture in the loss to Freo. He is likely to have surgery in the next few days and the recovery period is expected to be six to eight weeks.
