For the second time this year Geelong will feature in a top of the ladder clash on a Friday night. And for the second time this year Channel Seven will break with convention and broadcast the game live in Victoria.
The match will be pushed back to 7.50pm to acccomodate the live broadcast.
The Cats (1st) grand final rematch with St Kilda (2nd) on Friday is one of the most anticipated games of the season, and follows Geelongs 1st vs 2nd encounter with Collingwood in round nine.
Channel Seven’s general manager Lewis Martin confirmed the decision to go live with Cats CEO Brian Cook.
The telecast will begin at 7:30pm, with Geelong’s premiership skipper Tom Harley joined in the commentary box by Leigh Matthews, Bruce McAvaney and Dennis Cometti.
The clash of last year’s grand finalists has been eagerly anticipated since the last day in September. Stunningly the AFL has scheduled only one meeting between the teams, and supporters have been forced to wait until the 13th round before the clash.
