It will be Fisher’s first senior game since undergoing LARS surgery after injuring his knee against Sydney in Round 1 of the 2010 NAB Cup at Blacktown Olympic Park.
Fisher has returned via the Blues’ VFL affiliate, the Northern Bullants, where he has played eight matches and kicked 23 goals.
He replaces David Ellard in the team. Ellard has been omitted and is joined by Marcus Davies and Mitch Robinson on the emergency list this week.
Saturday’s match against Collingwood is more than a clash of traditional rivals; it is the clash for the Peter Mac Cup.
The Blues and the Pies have done battle for the Peter Mac Cup since 1993 with one match each season - the Collingwood home game for the Peter Mac Cup with the Carlton home game for the Richard Pratt Cup.
The Peter Mac Cup was the initiative of Carlton’s number one ticket holder, Sam Smorgon. The two clubs work with Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, the MCG and other organisations to promote the game and raise funds and awareness of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Peter Mac Cup will be presented to the winning team in the rooms following Saturday’s game.
Money raised from the Peter Mac Cup fundraising activities is used for vital cancer research and treatment programs at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Australia’s foremost cancer centre providing outstanding patient care, research and education.
On Saturday at the MCG collectors will be at the ground and you will have the opportunity to donate to Peter Mac and assist the two clubs to help the great work of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
In addition to the fundraising activities at the MCG on Saturday, the Peter Mac Cup Breakfast was held on Wednesday morning. This sold-out breakfast raised over $108,000 Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
