We're certainly not getting ahead of ourselves down here. This week we're only concentrating on the Western Bulldogs and our preliminary final.
People always want to compare teams of different eras, which I suppose is understandable to some degree, but I have a bit of a problem with people continually asking the question 'Are you a better side than last year?'
I think we're definitely a different side, and playing a different brand of footy.
The fact is we have different personnel in the side, so we're actually a different make-up to 2007 and blokes are also playing different roles in the team. We're evolving, and trying to continually improve.
There's no doubt we've improved as a side since my first preliminary final in 2004, which I can remember pretty clearly.
Back then we were a very young team, one of the youngest running around. Most blokes were 20 to 22 years old and we were taking on one of the best sides ever to play the game.
We were young, on a bit of a roll and playing some pretty free-flowing footy, but also still working out our game.
We didn't know what to expect that night against the Brisbane Lions, but it was a real eye-opener and provided a steep learning curve.
A few years on, it's fair to say things have changed a bit. We're a lot more settled as a club both on and off the field. Among the players, whether it be round one, round 12 or this week with our preliminary final, it all stays the same for us.
As soon as you start looking to change things or start doing extra sessions, you probably start messing with a winning formula.
At the moment the old 'If it ain't broke, it don't need fixing' philosophy comes into play.
We've got to this position by keeping everything constant, so we don't feel we need to go changing anything.
Altering our normal preparation at this crucial time of the year might only put pressure on ourselves. That's the last thing we need, as we know there are enough people outside the club who are willing to do that for us.
We know we can't really get any fitter now, so it's simply a matter of doing our training, doing the homework on our opposition and making sure we're mentally prepared come match day.
We know if we do all that we'll give ourselves a good chance of performing well on any day.
