With the first game of the year just a week away, the Sydney Swans will line-up for their first intra-club match of 2011, at Lakeside Oval tomorrow.
About 30 senior players will take part in the match, which will consist of the three 20-minute periods.
Swans coach John Longmire said he was looking forward to seeing how the squad was placed, a week out from the opening preseason match against the GWS Giants and the Gold Coast Suns.
“It’s been a long, hard preseason and we are looking forward to seeing the boys in their first really competitive hit-out for the season,” he said.
“The intra-club matches are a great opportunity for some of our newer players to really put their hands up for senior selection as the season draws near.
“Last year we saw Trent Dennis-Lane put the writing on the wall for his successful year, when he booted five goals in an intra-club match,” Longmire said.
The match will kick off at 9am and fans are more than welcome to attend.
