The Sydney Swans have named another strong line-up for this weekend’s game against Port Adelaide at Telstra Stadium on Friday night.
Leo Barry and Tadhg Kennelly are named to play after minor injuries sidelined them last week, while Matthew Laidlaw also comes back into the side at the business end of the pre-season.
Perhaps the surprise inclusion is Jared Crouch, who has not played a senior game since round 12 last year.
“Crouchy is pretty keen to have a run. He wanted to check off this afternoon’s session and got through so he will play on Friday night,” coach Paul Roos said after training at Lakeside Oval on Wednesday afternoon.
Paul Bevan is omitted due to a hamstring injury along with rookie Kieren Jack.
This week's team selection is critical as Roos reiterated whoever isn’t fit to play this weekend will not play in round one.
The one exception may be Kennelly, who has ticked off all his pre-season requirements but might not have totally recovered from a bruised shoulder.
If not fully recovered he won’t be risked and will play in the Canberra competition next week to be ready for round one.
“I think Tadhg will be okay, but if he is a bit sore we won’t play him. If he is out there on Friday he is basically 100 per cent fit," Roos said.
“We are getting close to shaping what we are going to be in round one. If you aren’t playing this week, aside from Tadhg, you won’t be playing round one.”
