Collingwood's Jason Cloke and Port Adelaide's Darryl Wakelin were each fined $3500 by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday for making contact with an umpire.

Both players pleaded guilty to the charge, which was referred to the Tribunal by the league's video reports officer Ian Robinson.

In his summary, Tribunal chairman Brian Collis, QC, said this was 'borderline case' between negligent and reckless behaviour but was prepared to give both players the benefit of the doubt.

Cloke and Wakelin made ran into the back of field umpire Michael Vozzo at a stoppage during the third quarter of Friday night's clash, with Vozzo suffering a corked arm.

The Power defender was following Cloke to the contest, with both players running into the back of the umpire as he backed away having completed a bounce.
