When North Melbourne’s Levi Greenwood hits the pack, he does so without any regard for his body. But that approach can have its negatives, as much as positives on the football field.

When the 22 year-old launched himself at the footy at Skilled Stadium on Sunday against Geelong, he came off second best.

The South Australian was left writhing in pain after an opposition player fell across his lower left leg.

“Levi sustained a high-grade ankle sprain which will keep him out between six and seven weeks,” North Melbourne Chief of Football Donald McDonald told kangaroos.com.au.

“We are hopeful however, that he could get back for the start of the season but will have to wait and see how he progresses.”

Greenwood will be forced to wear a Cam-Walker or ‘Moonboot’ for the next few days.

“It’s crucial that we minimise his mobility in the early stages of rehabilitation given the nature of the injury,” Director of Medical Services and Player Pathways Steve Saunders said.

Meanwhile North Melbourne rookie Marcus White will undergo a shoulder operation which will sideline him for 10 to 12 weeks.

While two players go out of the side, North has brought in some much needed experience and talent with Brady Rawlings, Michael Firrito and Sam Wright returning for the NAB Challenge match against Hawthorn on Saturday at Skilled Stadium.
