The East Coast Eagles took another step forward in its season 2008 campaign. The Eagles were taking on new coach Glenn Garner’s old club and a team that was on exactly the same points as the Eagles going into the game. Both clubs had a lot to play for but it was the Eagles who triumphed. In fact it was an emphatic-103 point victory that the Eagles walked away with.

The Eagles won every quarter against Campbelltown and the defence also made sure that the Blues would only kick four goals for the game. The final score read East Coast 20.9 (129) to the Blues 4.2 (26). Coach Glenn Garner would be excited on taking on Pennant Hills this weekend with the fine all-round performance on Saturday.

Shane Ryan was again in everything, Jason Coulloupas showed he is back to his best and young Michael Johnston had a fine game. Matt Arbon continued his good form and Batman and Robin, Gus Seebeck and Ben Rogers kicked 11 goals between them. Gus finished with seven and Ben with four.

The Reserve grade side were never troubled in its fourth straight win and they showed Campbelltown what a great all-round side they are. The only thing that coach Jason Duss would be unhappy with is the side's kicking for goal. The score board at the end of the day read the Eagles 24.24 (168) to 2.1 (13).

Brendan Foynes in his first game for the club was outstanding and helped himself to six goals. Andrew Polkinghorne continues to show his class and Michael Murrell showed improved form as well.

The under-18s took on the undefeated Campbelltown side and showed that it can be a force in this year’s competition with a hard fought four-point victory. The lead throughout and showed great spirit to hold on. The most pleasing aspect is that they still have much improvement in the side still to come.

The Eagles won 7.10 (52) to 7.6 (48).

Tom Robert and Sam Pinchen were fantastic over the duration of the game and James Dwyer showed his great potential in his first game for the year.

The Challenge Cup boys took on the very strong UNSW/ES team on Sunday and were no match for the Bulldogs. They look forward to the clash with traditional rivals Pennant Hills this Saturday.

The club looks forward to the Back to Baulko day at Charles McLaughlin reserve this Saturday and it promises to be a great day. All four games are against our great Hills rivals in Pennant Hills and the action starts at 8.15am and the main game starts at 2.15pm.
