MOUTH-WATERING MATCH UPS
Matthew Scarlett v Lance Franklin

There are three key defenders who could make cases to stand 'Buddy', and with rotations set to be in full effect, there's a strong chance the Hawks' goalkicker could face more than one opponent. Trent Croad might be his teammate and Jarrad Waite an obvious choice owing to a similar level of athleticism, but Scarlett wasn't All-Australian last year for nothing. And Thompson might put his Cats hat on briefly to consider it a dress rehearsal for the head-to-head scheduled for round 17.

Chris Judd v Daniel Kerr
Kerr's three-game suspension received in round six meant football fans were robbed of this highly anticipated match up when the Eagles met the Blues in round seven at Subiaco. Hall of Fame Tribute Match rules mean Kerr is available to play this week, so the clash of the talented former teammates could still happen despite the fact the two clubs won't meet again in 2008.

Jimmy Bartel v Kane Cornes
Like death and taxes, the Bartel-Cornes match-up seems a certainty. Mark Williams played Cornes alongside Bartel in round one this year as well as the Grand Final and round nine last season. The Power midfielder knows the path Bartel treads quite well, and is tipped to follow him once again.

Brendan Fevola v Ben Rutten/Nathan Bock
'Fev' was faced with this powerful defensive duo just two weeks ago, and was kept to just one goal by the miserly Adelaide pair. Rutten started alongside the Blues' forward before leaving the field with a bruised lower back and buttock, with Bock stepping in to take control of proceedings afterwards. 'Choco' might just decide to go with what works, and take Neil Craig's 'Fev plan' into this exhibition match.

Adam Goodes v Matthew Richardson
One of these players won two Brownlow medals for his best work on the wing, while the other has recently catapulted himself into favouritism for this year's fairest and best prize based on his own successful shift onto the flank. The Swans have not played Richmond since Richardson became a roaming player, so this is a match up that could both entertain and provide a preview of what's to come in round 10 when the Tigers meet the Swans.
